Schedules

The Schedules page is the timetable for your workspace: every automation that runs on a timer, how often it runs and when it runs next. Overdesk manages the defaults for you. You can pause any of them, move them to a different time, and add your own.

Where it lives

Open Schedules in the sidebar. Each row shows the Automation, its Frequency and its Next run. The schedules Overdesk created for you carry a small default tag.

Next run is shown in your own browser's local time. Frequency is written in the schedule's time zone, and for a schedule set to a time of day that zone appears in brackets beside it when it isn't UTC.

Everyone on your team can see this page. Admins and the owner can pause, add and delete schedules.

Pause or resume a schedule

Click the power button at the end of the row. A paused schedule is greyed out and doesn't run until you click the button again.

Paused schedules stay paused. Overdesk never switches back on something you turned off, including the defaults it created. The one exception is a sync: disconnecting an integration removes its sync schedule, paused or not, and reconnecting it brings the default back switched on.

Default schedules have no delete button, because pausing is how you turn one off. A schedule you added yourself can be deleted with the bin icon. Deleting it stops the automatic runs, and you can still run the job by hand from Jobs.

Add or change a schedule

  1. Click New schedule.
  2. In What should run, pick the automation. Syncs are only offered for integrations you have connected.
  3. In How often, pick one of Every 15 minutes, Every 30 minutes, Hourly, Every 6 hours, Every 12 hours, Daily at…, Weekly on…, Monthly on… or Yearly on….
  4. For the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly options, fill in the Time, plus the Day, Month or Day of month where asked, and check the Timezone. Days of the month go up to the 28th, so a monthly schedule runs in every month.
  5. For an analysis, set the Time window: how far back each run looks, written like 30d, 4w or 2m, up to 12 months. Match it to the cadence. A monthly schedule with a one-week window reads only the last week.
  6. Click Save.

Each automation has exactly one schedule. Saving a new schedule for an automation that already has one updates it in place, which is also how you move a default to a different time.

What you can schedule follows your plan. On Assist, the Weekly summary and the Weekly insights email are the reports available, and analyses are not included. Trial, Pro and Scale can schedule every report and every analysis. See Plans and pricing.

Time zones

Your workspace time zone is the Timezone field in Settings → General, written as Region/City, for example America/New_York. Leave it blank and everything runs on UTC. The New schedule dialog starts from the workspace time zone (or your browser's, when the workspace has none), and you can pick another for any one schedule.

Each schedule keeps the time zone it was saved with. The defaults take the workspace time zone at the moment Overdesk creates them, so if you change the workspace time zone later, existing schedules stay where they were. To move one, save it again from New schedule with the new zone.

When nothing runs

When a trial ends, scheduled automations stop until you choose a plan. They pick up again as soon as the plan is active, with no schedules to recreate. See When a trial ends.

A sync with nothing to read also leaves no schedule behind: disconnect GitHub, for example, and the GitHub sync disappears from this page within a minute.
