Slash commands

Type /overdesk in Slack, followed by a command, to get a report, start a draft or check your numbers without leaving the channel. You can also @mention the bot with the same words, for example "@Overdesk stats".

The commands

CommandWhat it does
/overdesk reportLists the reports you can ask for.
/overdesk report <type>Generates that report and posts it in the channel.
/overdesk draft <conversation ID>Starts a draft for one conversation.
/overdesk statsShows how many drafts Overdesk has written, your total AI spend, and how many jobs ran in the last 24 hours. /overdesk status does the same.
/overdesk helpLists the commands. /overdesk on its own does the same.

Anything else you type after /overdesk is taken as a question. With Ask Overdesk turned on, the bot answers it. With Ask Overdesk off, you get the same numbers as /overdesk stats.

When you run a command, Slack first shows only you a "Processing your request..." note. The reply is then posted in the channel, where everyone in it can read it. When you @mention the bot instead, it answers in a thread under your message.

The commands answer anyone in your connected Slack workspace. They do not check for an Overdesk account or role.

Report types

Type the report's name as shown:

Type thisReport
/overdesk report morning_briefingMorning briefing
/overdesk report early_warningEarly warning
/overdesk report queue_healthQueue health
/overdesk report tag_trendsTag trends
/overdesk report weekly_summaryWeekly summary
/overdesk report weekly_intelligenceWeekly intelligence
/overdesk report executive_summaryExecutive summary
/overdesk report weekly_insightsWeekly insights
/overdesk report response_qualityResponse quality
/overdesk report customer_healthCustomer health
/overdesk report monthly_summaryMonthly summary

On the Assist plan, /overdesk report weekly_summary and /overdesk report weekly_insights work, and the others reply that the report is available on the Pro and Scale plans. What each report covers is on Report types.

A report you ask for in Slack is built from your connected help desks at that moment and posted in the channel. It is not added to the Reports page, which keeps your scheduled reports. The names of the customers on your conversations appear as (customer).

Drafting from Slack

/overdesk draft takes the conversation's ID from your help desk, which is the number in the conversation's web address. In Help Scout, the address carries two numbers: use the longer one that comes first, not the conversation number shown on screen.

The bot replies that the draft is on its way. The draft then appears in your help desk and on the Agent drafts page, delivered the same way as every other draft. If a draft for that conversation is already being written, the bot says so rather than starting a second one.

Drafting needs a documentation source in Settings → Knowledge base. Without one, or while drafting is set to Paused on the Guardrails page, the command is accepted but no draft is written. See Point Overdesk at your docs.
