Overview
Overdesk can send your reports, analyses and alerts to wherever your team already reads: a Slack channel, a ClickUp Chat channel or an email inbox. You pick the destinations, and you decide which kind of message goes to each.
Nothing here reaches your customers. Notifications go only to the channels and the address your team sets up.
Destinations
| Destination | How to set it up | What arrives |
|---|---|---|
| Slack | On Integrations, connect Slack, then save a channel. Invite the bot to that channel with /invite @Overdesk, or posts won't appear. | A short post with the title and a link back to Overdesk, with the full text as a reply in its thread. |
| ClickUp | On Integrations, connect ClickUp, then pick a Chat channel from the list. Until you choose one, ClickUp receives nothing. | The same short post, with the full text as a threaded reply. |
| In Settings → Notifications, enter an address under Email destination. No integration is needed. | One plain-text email per message, with the title as its subject, the full text in the body and a link back to Overdesk where there is one. |
A workspace has one of each: one Slack channel, one ClickUp channel and one email address. For more than one person to get the emails, use a shared inbox or a mailing list. For the Slack setup step by step, see Connecting Slack.
Choose what goes where
- Open Settings → Notifications. Admins and the owner see this tab.
- The table has a row for each kind of message and a column for each destination you have set up:
- Reports: scheduled reports, and any you generate by hand.
- Analyses: every finished analysis.
- Alerts: conversations a guardrail rule flagged for a person. See Escalation.
- Tick or clear each box. A row cleared everywhere sends nothing for that kind of message, and no failed delivery is recorded.
- To send email, fill in the Address under Email destination. Leave it blank to send no email.
- Click Save routing.
A destination you have just added receives all three kinds of message until you clear a box.
When someone adds, changes or removes the email address, Overdesk posts a note on the Alerts page saying where reports and alerts now go, so the change is visible to the whole team.
Test your destinations
On the Slack or ClickUp card on Integrations, click Send test. Overdesk sends a test message to every destination you have set up, email included, and tells you where each one landed or why it didn't. It is also the way to check a new email address.
When a delivery fails
The report's row in Recent reports shows Delivery failed or Sent to some, and a warning on the Alerts page names the destination that could not receive it. The two usual causes in Slack are a channel that isn't saved and a bot that hasn't been invited to the channel. Run /invite @Overdesk in Slack, then use Send test to confirm.
